Most people learn stuff UI stuff until they can do what they need, and never bother to learning the clever stuff. Or they learn finesses and use them so rarely they forget. I know that vi has lots of clever stuff that would help me, but I'm not going to learn it now. I tie my shoelaces in a really inefficient manner, but I'm not going to change.
