Workstations are now dead. They were outcompeted by microcomputers with faster processors (Intel/AMD) and better graphics (Nvidia/ATI). Another way to view it is that desktop microcomputers morphed into workstations.

So today's workstations run Windows NT (Windows 10 or 11), with Linux and macOS as alternatives that are strongest in specific sub-markets.
