Desktop CAD is now all Windows or Mac. People who run Linux desktops don't seem to want commercial CAD software for them. Linux has a big role running compute and web servers in organisations that use commercial CAD software. SUSE Linux Enterprise 16 (released last month) has dropped its desktop edition, due to lack of usage.
I have the impression that BSD is mostly used for network infrastructure purposes, rather than running applications. How wrong am I about that?
